Vietnam Vet And The Oath
In 1965 I was drafted right out of college and into the Army. I was supposed to have a student deferment but due to clerical errors a number of us were left unprotected. I always had great respect for the military as members of my family that served with honor in WWII. It just wasn’t in my DNA to even remotely consider running off to Canada like so many cowards chose to do. So off I went to basic and because of my performance and test scores as a platoon guide in basic I was sent to one of the elite programs. I was given a choice of two, Warrant Officer Training School for choppers or Armor School for for AIT. I choose Armor school as I would be required to give two extra years for Warrant Officer School and I promised my parents I would finish college sooner, rather than later.From the moment I put on the uniform I felt a sense of pride as a member of the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen. When I finished AIT and received my MOS 11E10 I was ready to do what needed to be done for God and country.
As a Vietnam Vet who took his oath standing tall, I made an oath to myself on that faithful day that I would never abandon my commitment to the Constitution, to my country and to those who came before me and fought so valiantly for the nation I love. I also swore an oath to my brothers in arms that were left behind, heros on the field of battle.I have accomplished much in my life through hard work, a good education and the blessing to have been born in the land of the free and the home of the brave. To this day, in all that I have done, the only thing that instills me with more pride than my honorable discharge, is my wonderful family.
We live in troubled times navigating dangerous seas in a rudderless ship run by criminals who hide behind the walls of Congress, the Executive and the Judiciary. To them I say, shame on you, you have violated your oaths to the Constitution and that is treason. We the people own America, we the people must hold the lawbreakers who illicitly profit from selling us out, accountable. Nobody else will do it for us. For the sake of our children and grandchildren we must uphold the Constitution as the inviolable law of the land, the guiding light of truth that separates us from all others, that as Ronald Reagan best described the America he loved as, “The shinning city upon a hill.”
As an ardent fan of our founders who has read and researched literally volumes of information on our origins I’m reminded at this defining moment in our nation’s history something Jefferson said, “All that is required for tyranny to gain a foothold, is for men of good conscience to remain silent.”
I support your efforts to take our nation back and to hold fast and true to our oaths to the Constitution and once again I swear allegiance to my oath so help me God! If I’m called to defend the Constitution once again I will do so without hesitation as I was trained to do for the America I love!

As Thomas Paine so eloquently stated when he ended his famous “The War Inevitable Speech” given in March of 1775, “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God- I know not what course others might take; but for me give me liberty or give me death.”
