An interesting and vitally important point and question was raised at Meeting on the Green blogspot by a person calling himself “Griggs at Pro Libertate”. His point and question;
“From all that I gather, the Oathkeepers are about refusing unconstitutional orders given them by their superiors. That in itself is a great goal, however, that’s not what the oath is about. It’s not about refusing orders. It’s about defending the Constitution. It’s about allegiance to an ideal, to a country and to a people. Refusing unconstitutional orders is only a first step…
I do not want to belittle the efforts of the Oathkeepers, because it is a great step and a great cause, but when will we act in defense of this country rather than standing by while she is ravaged by the wolves?”
This is exactly the question that I have. Sitting out unlawful orders is not a “defense” of anything. Besides, how does an individual in the military or law enforcement know that any particular order is unlawful? Our federal government is operating in violation of clearly established legal precedent, black letter law and in an extra-Constitutional manner on a number of fronts, including the recent rounds of criminality involving Wall Street officials, the Fed, members of Congress, the Executive branch and a variety of appointed officials. The specific examples are too numerous to mention here.
We have a civilian government that engages in criminal activity and ignores black letter law combined with a Justice Department that selectively prosecutes “crimes”, ignoring voter intimidation (the Black Panthers in Pennsylvania, ect.) and voter fraud (ACORN).
This creates an interesting conundrum. Can any “legal” orders emanate from an illegitimate civilian government that operates above the law and ignores its Constitutional limits and constraints? If so, how is a member of the military or law enforcement to know which orders are “lawful”? If not, if no orders from an illegitimate, extra-Constitutional government can be “legal”, what should members of the military and law enforcement do?
Resign! Refuse to support the Leviathan that has been created!
It is my contention that to work for an illegitimate government that operates above the law makes one illegitimate and criminal (think about the bureaucrats and enforcers of various criminal regimes throughout history and into modern times.) Everyone that collects a paycheck from our Federal Government (and many local governments) is endorsing and supporting their criminal actions, their violations of the Constitution and their destruction of our God given liberties.
Oathkeepers? When? When do they start to “keep” their oath? The military and a good portion of the law enforcement community have the support and respect of the majority of citizens that make this country work. When will they stand up and return the sentiment. They are uniquely situated and a large scale act of resistance/protest against the current slate of criminals and criminal activity in D.C. would have the support of the vast majority of involved citizens – and it would help to wake up the rest.
Without the bold action of our “brave” men and women in uniform on the domestic issues and crimes that our citizens face now on a daily basis, I fear for the future of our Republic. This will not end well.

As Democrats of the Democratic Party, we are joining together in seeking reform within the Democratic Party.
Many of our elected representatives within the Democratic Party are no longer following in the time-honored footsteps laid down by the founding fathers of our great Nation. More importantly, we as democrats see our elected representatives within the Democratic Party abandoning the values and principles as set forth within the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.
Nonetheless, this is only the beginning of our problems as Democrats, for the current Democratic Party leadership is tainted by corruption and being taken over by Socialists. These Socialists are clearly a threat to everything we hold sacred in America, and they are gaining evermore control over our Democratic Party, our Nation, and the American people.
Despite this, we as Democrats can restore control of the Democratic Party back to the party members. All we need to do is cut off donations to the local, state, and national headquarters of the Democratic Party, and to make sure the donations are made directly to patriotic and honorable Democratic Party candidates that are not corrupt and/or Socialist.
So please help spread the message to everyone of our fellow Democrats. Also, don’t forget to contact and request the Unions and other outside contributors to follow our lead as patriotic Americans.
Thank you, and God Bless America.

25 years, Bless You and Thank you!
David III,
This is probably not the right forum to discuss this but I want to comment on all you stated above.
I have just started to study the Constitution and from what I have gathered (and I could be off the mark) The Constitution was written by the people to give the people Sovereignty. The Government was formed and given certain responsibility, mostly things that have to do with the common defense and general welfare of the People (that would be ALL the people), like the creation of Post Offices and roads, the States were created to represent our rights and keep the government in check. So first sovereignty of the people, then sovereignty of the states, then sovereignty of the government. Today it is reversed. The government controls the states through funding and, well we all know how they have encroached on the rights of the people … The good news is, many states have decided to exercise their 10th amendment rights and declare their sovereignty.
Last I checked there were 38 states that introduced a Sovereignty Resolutions – only 2 have passed, 3 have failed and the rest are in process, but there is a movement! You can find more info here: http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com – see if your state is one…
I think if we are going to get through this, we need the support of our states representatives. The really good news is that next year we have the opportunity to elect people that represent “We The People”! There are several vacancies in the House that will be elected in January and 1/3 of the Senate in November. There are also a lot of libertarians groups popping up around the country… I am going to a meeting next month… http://www.lp.org. Check out the site and look under the tab ‘Our Party’ & “Issues” to see where they (we…, I haven’t joined yet
stand on issues of welfare and gun control, etc… I find it very inspiring especially after watching the movie Camp FEMA, which had me in tears and shaking in my seat.
Which brings me back to the fine men and women of Oath Keepers. Finding this site has allowed me to feel safe in my home again… Thank You to all that have re-affirmed their oath to uphold the Constitution and protect We The People.
I hope this information helps and again I apologize if this was not the right forum…
With Much Love and Gratitude,
