Oath Keepers Founder Stewart Rhodes Plays “Hardball” With Chris Matthews, Telling Him: “We swear an oath to the Constitution, not to a man, even if he makes a thrill run up your leg when he talks.”
Stewart Rhodes, the Founder of Oath Keepers, took on Chris Matthews and Mark Potok (it was like a two on one professional wrestling match, but thankfully Potok is a serious lightweight).
Once it became clear that Matthews was acting as Potok’s ally rather than as a journalist, Stewart couldn’t resist sticking Matthews with a solid jab, saying “we swear an oath to the Constitution, not to a man, even if he makes a thrill run up your leg when he talks.”
That was in reference to the now famous statement by Matthews last year, when he said listening to Obama speak sent a “thrill” up his leg. Here is the full quote of that statement:
“I have to tell you, you know, it’s part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama’s speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often. No, seriously. It’s a dramatic event. He speaks about America in a way that has nothing to do with politics. Good job Stewart. Your message was clear. Oath keepers are making it a point to stand down when asked to unlawfully take up arms against Americans. That gives Americans a sense of security and peace, not fear.
Mathews sounded like the conspiracy nut, not you. He is the one drumming up fear, and it was obvious in this segment.
These are uncertain times. Obama has promised to FUNDAMENTALLY change America. There is nothing more fundamental in America than our Liberty. Good job Stewart. I actually happened to be surfing my TV when I saw the start of the interview. I couldn’t believe the first question was whether we had enough ‘firepower’ to match the US Army. He just doesn’t get it. He kept doing his ‘Matthews thing”…shouting and not letting you answer, that I had to turn it off, or lose another TV to the liberal media!
I would not have been able to control myself. I get completely irate listening to these traitorous bunch of hypocrites. They do not understand freedom and what it takes to keep it.

Wow. What a horrible job of conducting a fair and objective interview. Matthews is obviously firing off questions to get comments that can be taken out of context. He did not allow Rhodes the opportunity to expand and completely answer. Matthews obviously invited Rhodes to this so he could take personal “stabs” at Rhodes in a situation where the balance of power in the converstation is with Matthews. Hmmm, aren’t reporters supposed to take an oath to be “fair & objective”. Matthews is obviously using his position with MSNBC to vent his personal opinions and make accusations like “vigilante group”. MSNBC should call for the resignation of Chris Matthews for not performing his job as a reporter.

What can you say about Chris Matthews. One look at his hair and that tells you enough, Matthews has no idea, I can gurantee you he has no idea what the constitution is or what it means. Very sad fo a man that uses the constitution on a daily basis and let alone his job is based up on it.

A young female pharmacist who just graduated pharmacy school quit when she couldn’t get a conscience clause over dispensing abortion pills. A nurse I know just quit her job in Virginia over the forced vaccine. They all had mortgages and families to feed. They also had something else…principles. Good God, this guy Matthews calls himself a journalist? He did nothing more than push the conversation in the direction he wanted it to go, just as every far left media host has been doing since politics began.
By not allowing you to speak in defense of his questions, which were, by the way, absolutely off topic and ridiculous, he just showed his inability to perform real journalism, which is to be unbiased, and just report the news.
This tactic is straight out of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and has been the main tactic used by progressives for decades. He is obviously in denial of the truth about this and past administrations.
Potok is obviously the conspiracy theorist…and if anyone can honestly look on as this administration rushes us into socialism and not believe that martial law and FEMA camps are not only possible but maybe even probable they are just deluding themselves.
It is my opinion that if we completely ignore the possibilities of so called conspiracy theories then we only make ourselves more vulnerable. Whether or not you believe in a particular theory or not doesn’t change the possibility that some or all of that theory might be true and has just not been revealed in its entirety.
Being vigilant and wary of possible and actual usurpations of the constitution does not make you a conspiracy theorist in any form. It makes you an honest and God fearing patriotic American. Questioning your government and its policies is one of the most patriotic actions you can take to ensure liberty prevails.

I love it when people try to make a concern about future “concentration camps” into some big conspiracy theory as if there is no historicle precedence…ever heard of Manzanar? My understanding of Oath Keepers is that it protects the American people at all costs.
Stewart’s words were good, correct, and calm. However, Matthews never intended the program to be a debate, an interview, or an investigation.
Trying to argue with a Yell Show host who is allowed/required to dominate every “discussion”, not in truth or fairness, but with extremely rude bombardments of stupidity and by prefacing questions with equally manure containing statements of falsehood, isn’t what anyone should have to put up with.
The loud, nasal whining yeller loyally followed his agenda which was to minimize and discredit Oath Keepers and Rhodes by all means except the truth. He ignored answers, cut off answers to launch another attack, and left his facts at home. But he did so very loudly and with the appropriate level of practiced indignation to satisfy some of his following and his employer.
So, good job, Stewart; bad venue.

I’ve been on TV before and I know how nerve racking it can be, especially for someone not used to being on TV in a television station when the count down from 3 and say “go”! Just remember for the future, if you’re going to step into the ring with a bully, you have to be tougher than the bully. You can’t go into the ring and act like a member of the Oxford debating society. I have no doubt that you wanted to make sure that you didn’t come off as a “fringe militia crazy” (and you most certainly did not, because you’re not) so you may have been more reserved than you would have liked to have been. Mr. Rhodes deserves great respect and admiration for maintaining a humble demeanor throughout Matthew’s fear-stricken verbal onslaught. It said a lot about his character and reflected very well on the Oath Keepers organization. The simple fact that Mr. Rhodes appeared on national television and that Oath Keepers got 13+ minutes of free advertising was a victory in itself. They’ll probably have to hire more folks to process all of the new memberships that they were already having trouble keeping up with.
I’ve been watching the stealthy encroachment of the New World Odor on the sovereignty of our country since I first became aware in 1992. I’m acquainted with dozens of organizations dedicated to research and education in this area but I’m not aware of any other single group that has more potential to create a serious obstacle for the plans of the NWO in this country than Oath Keepers, and more so as this group “cross pollinates” [as feared by subversive political groups] with other truly patriotic organizations to bring about a national unity of spirit in defense of freedom and national sovereignty.
I found out about Oath Keepers this past Monday. I haven’t been this excited about any group I’ve seen in many long years. I’m telling all of my friends about Oath Keepers. I want to thank Mr. Rhodes and all of you good folks who are involved in organizing and promoting this group.

Matthews tried, as he always does, to get his interviewee flustered and to make statements that discredit him. He also tried to link Oath Keepers to right-wing militias. It’s a despicable tactic, and shows Matthews up for what he really is: an establishment propagandist. Stewart thwarted Matthews very well. Potash also tried to link Oath Keepers with right-wing militias and racists as well, though less effectively, and to make it appear as though the group is bent on insurrection and violence. Stewart countered him well, too. Excellent job! It helps to be an attorney, one who knows how to keep his head when assaulted by barracudas like Matthews.

They’re all puppets to him – Chris Matthews is no different. I was APPALLED at his scathing disdain towards a rational man with a rational purpose. I don’t know how Rhodes kept his cool. That dickhead took everything out of context and asked bait questions designed for entrapment (like the civil war one). It’s a shame that so many educated people fall under his spell and turn a blind eye at anything suspicious. I mean, really. The other day I say a picture of Obama carrying a book called “The Post American World.” And it DID NOT look photoshopped.

Now I can’t say I’m a fan of anyone on the left or right. But after seeing this, I can say CM should be ashamed of himself. Here is someone representing law enforcement that is publicly saying they are going to do the right thing regardless of what anyone or any order directs them to do. Anyone who knows who Mark Potok is, and what the SPLC is, knows that from the very first breath Chris Matthews was trying to characterize Oath Keepers as part of the “evil nutjob conspiracy theorist antigovernment rightwing militia movement” (LOL), because the loony left HATES and FEARS anyone and any group whose values are to the right of Karl Marx! Never mind that Timothy McVeigh was never part of the Michigan Militia, or that the militia of any state had any connection to any domestic terrorism. Chris Matthews is obviously not too familiar with history. IF I was in this debate I would have laughed in his face, because Chris keeps saying a whole bunch of stuff makes no sense. He keeps attempting to get Mr. Rhodes to say something incriminating, but unfortunately for Mr. Matthews there is nothing incriminating about the nature of Oath Keepers. All the scenarios listed in the Oath are real situations that have happened multiple times throughout history, here and around the world. Don’t think for a second that it can’t happen.
Obviously, Oath Keepers wouldn’t exist if there weren’t any concerned citizens who are willing to stand up and pledge that they will not obey orders violate the rights of Americans. But since people like Chris Matthews have a stronger allegiance to government power, they will always view a collection of concerned people as extremists and paranoid militia members.

Bingo! Exactly and if Chrissy had simply asked an open-ended question and stfu for a few seconds, Stewart Rhodes would have been able to share what Oath Keepers is/are, instead of a game of 20 loaded questions on what Oath Keepers isn’t/aren’t.
Please let Stewart Rhodes know that he never has to subject himself to Chrissy Asshat Matthews again and not to even bother with Olbermann. Chrissy, Olbermann and MSNBC have lost whatever credibility as a news source that they might have had among viewers. Well done! I think he hurt his case there at the end because surely most people know of the 1. Forced confiscation of weapons, 2. forced confinement in the superdome (locked in), 3. forced closure of the city points of egress to prevent citizens from leaving that happened during Katrina. Matthews: “Do you think it could happen?” A: Well chris…I think it ALL just happened in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It was wrong to demand our soldiers follow illegal orders then and it remains wrong today and tomorrow. We could have used more Oath Keepers during that catastrophe.
I am a 15 year old freshman in high school. My father is an upstanding Patriot and has involved me in politics since I was a little boy. I have taken an interest into protecting our constitutional rights. My hope was beginning to dim as I saw our rights were slowly, underhandedly being taken away. Then I saw oath-keepers. Organizations like Oath-Keepers, the NRA, Grassfire, and many more is what gives me hope. GOD BLESS Stewart and every constitutional activist, straining for our rights in any organization. His vendetta is obvious and immature, and it shall cost him dearly because the pompous buffoons who he calls his “allies” will not win and they will not destroy this nation with communism.
The worthless funny money Chris Matthews receives, and the rest of the media gets all the time along with their corrupted Judges….will evaporate into thin air and disappear as the Federal Reserve crashes and burns.
The money is all counterfeit, it’s all truly worth less than 5 cents and eventually it won’t be able to cover up the corruption anymore. Think about what you say next time and look at the bigger picture, stop being so narrow minded. This is not about your “president” or any of the other political nonsense, this is about constitutional rights.
When it hits the fan that Oath Keeper is the first one who will save your life, besides yourself. They are being public about the orders they will not obey, to stave off and avoid having to ever encounter that situation. You swear an oath to the constitution and never to a celebrity.

How many nights do you stay up sweating and shaking in fear, nervously fidgeting with your weapon, projecting yourself into the future in some concentration camp and saying to yourself as you are ready to burn in the furnace… “I wish I would have murdered all those Traitors when I had the chance”???
Where do you hide your plans to move against the GOVERNMENT?? Are you planning to do it tonight???; tomorrow??? sometime this week??? How many weapons do you have stockpiled and how many commandos are under your control ready to strike at a moments notice??
Are you ready to die for your cause and cause the death of millions to stop a couple troops from confiscating a couple guns from a few folks??
Will you blow up all the cell phone towers in your state and blow up all incoming highways at choke points throughout your State to stop the Federal Tanks from rolling in to round you all up and put you on the rail to the Fema camps?
Will you disable and burn all those planes at your major airports in your State to stop the Chemtrail spraying of poisonous concoctions all over you?? Will you go door to door and kill all those who support the rounding up of your guns???
How many guns do you have? where do you hide them? how much ammo do you have stockpiled? Do you have a list of all your associates and the number of guns and stockpiles of ammo they have??
How many citizens have you recruited to stand with you when the troops come to confiscate all your guns and ammo, leaving you defenseless??

Do they understand that one of the presidents closest friends and mentors advocated reeducation camps and stated that they would not be able to reeducate about 10% of America to the communist ways and they would need to be killed? Do they not understand that the president has surrounded himself with marxists, stallinists, and maoists? stalin and mao alone were responsible for killing nearly 138 million of their own people. I took the oath in the USMC, the US Army, and the CA Army National Guard. Though any normal sane person doesnt want revolution… it has been forced upon us before. I guess this news guy doesn’t remember Katrina…when the Federal Government gave the orders to local law enforcement and National Guardsmen to disarm the public. This was recent history too. Chris Matthews obviously has his blinders on. His candidate, now president, has kept the Patriot Act going…I guess he doesn’t want to see that. I mean I guess it’s a conspiracy that Obama supports limiting our rights. I’ll Quote Charlton Heston: “From my cold, dead hands!”
