I’m in the OC. It’s refreshing to see people like Bill Hunt stand up and re-instate his oath to the people, especially during these dark times. I’m a new active member for liberty. I will certainly be following him closely. Thanks for the post.

After watching Bill Hunt answer the 2nd Amendment question with, “if you qualify for a CCW, I will issue it to you,” I would like to ask Mr. Hunt a few question?

Do I need a permit to exercise a God given right?

If he supports the CCW requirement for exercising my 2nd Amendment right to keep (posses) and bear (carry) arms, when will he require a permit for my free speech and right to assemble or, petition government for a redress grievances?

The second amendment is my permit to arm myself with any defensive tool. (rock, stick, club, hammer, knife, screwdriver, rifle, pistol, bat, jack-handle, paperclip, fingernail file, etc.) … period.

    Ron Neil Says:

Sheriff Mack, where are you on the concealed carry issue?

Please list all God given rights, from the Constitution, that require a permit?

Please, define “shall not infringe” for us all?

    Ron Neil Says:

    Worth repeating:

“I believe that a person moral compass can be determined by how he references free men the right to defend themselves. The second amendment to me is so obvious to me, its insane that there is an argument. Let’s pretend there is no document. Let’s pretend brave families didn’t leave the tyrants and slave drivers of Europe, so that they could practise the religion of their choice, they could speak out without being murdered, that they could produce wool without the King’s men coming and taking it from them every season of harvest. Lets pretend none of this happened. Lets just pretend that this guy named Ted Nugent, parachuted down to earth and woke up one morning and saw all of these wonderful resources and had dreams of excellence and being the best that I could be. I don’t need a document and I don’t need another man to explain to me that I have the right to defend my gift of life. And that there is an argument in America from Hilary Clinton, from Barbara Boxer, Diane Feist, from a whole gaggle of numbnuts, who would try to tell me they will dictate where how and if, I can defend myself. I find that preposterous, I find that unacceptable and I will not accept it. I am a free man, DON’T Tread on Me, a good law abiding citizen, not convicted of a felony. The 2nd amendment of our bill of rights is my concealed weapons permit. PERIOD. That’s it.”

    Ted Nugent

We need more than sheriffs that will stand and swear an oath.
We need men that understand the document they swear to uphold.

    ON THE CCW
    MERRY-GO-ROUND

There is an amazing lack of originality in the arguments that the anti-self defense crowd use each time a new state takes up the issue of legalizing the concealed carry of weapons. The following crop of bromides was harvested in Wisconsin.

“I’m all for the right to bear arms,” said Lisbon, WI police chief, Patrick Clarey, “but there has to be a balance, and the way this law is written, it would not benefit society.”

The first tip off that an anti-gun statement is coming is found at the very beginning of the Chief’s statement, where he tries to wrap his anti-gun view in the Second Amendment. To say that there has to be a balance in the area of our liberty protected by the Second Amendment means that he has not read the amendment nor read what the founders had to say about it. When they said that the “…right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed,” they were not talking about balance. They were telling Chief Clarey to keep his hands off our guns.

Butler, WI police chief, Mikel Olson, likes the idea of a 22-hour training provision in one version of the CCW legislation before the Wisconsin legislature. He thinks this will “weed out a lot of unqualified people” because, he thinks, many would drop out before finishing such a ridiculous requirement.

Chiefs Clarey and Lanon police chief Mark Flessert don’t think the training goes far enough. They point to the more extensive requirements imposed on police officers. It seldom occurs to police bureaucrats that people using a gun in self-defense do not need the training a police officer should have. The intended victim will be involved in a shooting at typically less than 20 feet. A police officer is almost never that close to the scene of the crime, and he often has trouble figuring out who is the real bad guy in the crowd. The chiefs are using unnecessary training as a way to accomplish what they really want – as few citizens as possible who are able to protect themselves with a gun.

And it would be interesting to ask Chief Olson if he believes that bad guys and careless jerks who get guns (in disregard of the law) will bother to practice. Evidently the Chief does not get out on the street very often – a typical problem for police bureaucrats.

Waukesha County District Attorney Paul Bucher thinks guns should not be concealed in cars in order to protect the safety of officers during traffic stops. What kind of criminals does this DA deal with? Does he really think a ban on CCW in an automobile would be obeyed by a crook? How many good guys with guns pop officers during traffic stops? I doubt he has prosecuted one. This does not mean that guns were not illegally in the cars for the defense of the owners who were stopped for unrelated traffic violations. But the good guys do not consider shooting a cop during a traffic stop as a legitimate defensive gun use.

Has the DA checked out the experience of other states? If he were to do so, he would find that his concern is groundless. Of course, maybe cheeseheads are uniquely dangerous when guns are around them!

DA Bucher explains further that, “I don’t know why anyone would want a gun in the car anyway. There isn’t any real self-defense issue inside your own car.” Amazing! Wisconsin has no carjackers. Congratulations!

Chief Clarey does not think crime would be lowered following a CCW law in Wisconsin because the state is already very safe. Another amazing feature of this state -there are no murders and other violent crimes? Well, he “knows” that things would get worse if decent people could defend themselves: “I don’t want to go back to the days of the wild, wild West with people settling their disagreements in a shootout at the mall.”

Chief Clary’s ignorance of history is matched by his ignorance of the contemporary experience of other states where carrying concealed firearms is legal. The wild west was only dangerous in the movies, and the states which have adopted CCW laws have uniformly experienced declines in violent crime.

Chief Flessert adds that CCW would be dangerous because: “The average nice guy will sometimes take drastic steps when put under pressure.” Well, tell us what has been the problem in other states, please. You know folks like Flessert would point to such problems if, indeed, they existed. But they don’t.

Chief Clarey warns that “If you’re not properly trained, your gun can be used against you or your loved ones.” That, of course, would be an argument for disarming police officers, since sometimes their service weapons are used against them.

Chief Olson lets the elitist cat out of the bag with this statement: “If you don’t have a uniform, you shouldn’t be carrying a gun.” In this immoral view, self-defense should not include the use of guns by mere citizens!

Finally, a priceless piece of advice from Chief Clarey: “Citizens can fight crime more effectively by learning to become excellent witnesses.” How they can do that from the morgue is something the Chief did not explain.

As an american, I am really afraid for the first time in my life. I feel I am on a roller coaster with no one at the controls. I have listened to the media and it is confusing, I hear for weeks North Korea is test firing missiles-then nothing. I hear for weeks Iran raising a stink-then nothing. I hear of a National Police Force, then it changes to National Private Police Force and it is run by a criminal. I hear rumors of concentration camps, martial law and mandatory vaccinations to inject us with thimerosal and other horrible ingredients or go to jail/face fines. I hear about Mandatory volunteer (oxymoron) service for kids, now it applies to everyone, because just living in the US is not a right. I hear the firing range beside my home more now than ever-I worry about vigilantes trying to take the place of police or if this is the police ready to round us up. I worry about the crash of the dollar and home invasions. I worry so many have purchased ammo. The government took over our cars, are sending our jobs to other countries, so many people on welfare, people on unemployment-that is running out, people by masses homeless-evicted from lack of jobs. The government shuts off water to productive farmers in CA for a fish and farmers can’t reuse their seeds-must buy new every year from Monsanto GMs because the government controls the food now (new Codex Bill), they control our water, they want to tax the air we breathe (new Copenhagen climate bill), Obama socialism-spreading our hard earned wealth around while facing possible job loss (GM) w/$3000 mon mortgage, Obama said he would stop the war, then says more war, eight years of an advanced civilization and technology trying to find a man in a cave-now 40,000 more troops. Thousands of dead professional americans and unanswered 911-afraid to fly, afraid to go to the mall, afraid to get on a bus. Americans want an answer-are we heading toward communism? I am a law abiding citizen who has never been in trouble and never plan to be. I am so sad about what is happening to this country that I want to just crawl under the covers and cry for the dead soldiers who fought for our freedoms, maybe in vane. My dad was army/national guard, uncle career national guard, I have three marine cousins, one navy, one airforce, nephew just won a purple heart Bush posed with him in germany hospital, one nephew army who is now a deputy and his dad is a police officer, a friend who is swat/police/marine. My family obviously believes in the United States of America. I fear our freedoms are going to be gone soon. I am afraid for my child, and everyone’s uncertain future.

    Promise last thing: I heard it said that the government says any returning veteran, previous veteran, etc. is now suspected of being a potential domestic terrorist. They send our military men into war and then for them obeying their command (if not court martial)–your reward for serving your country–domestic terrorist. See it just keeps getting worse. Now if you’re a patriot, love america and what it stands for, you’re a domestic terrorist. {shaking my head in sorrow}
