We Take This Oath Seriously

thomas-jefferson-big When Thomas Jefferson wrote the words, “We hold these truths to be self evident…,” he was just putting an emphasis on something that was already understood by the people of his time.

They knew freedom and liberty as rights given by God and not privileges granted by some government. There were going to defend them and they were going to protect them from an overbearing government; thus the Constitution.

Many men and women have died to defend that Constitution against its enemies. I lost a cousin and a friend in Viet Nam.

We take this oath seriously. We have been trained and skilled to do so.

I serve notice to all those who would seek to ignore the responsibility we have sworn to. Do not take us lightly. I alone with all my fellow oath takers reaffirm my oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.

You are among friends in the Oath Keepers. We all hold those same feelings towards the oath we took to protect and defend our constitution.

So many men and women have taken the oath falsely believing that all enemies are foreign. Our mission is to educate and inspire them to truly understand that the threat can and has been not only off the wall fringe groups of nuts but also those we so blindly have elected and reelected that are so intent on shredding the foundation of this republic.

Welcome Graig! Together we need to inform our countrymen of the importance of our constitution and to stop the deconstruction of it. I served in the U.S. ARMY and am an OIF veteran. I’m no longer in the service, but the oath we took is a lifetime commitment to keeping our country in the light of liberty. Glad to have you with us!

Oath of Enlistment

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Site Dedication

This site is dedicated to the memory of John William Adams (1925-2006), Marine and Oath Keeper extraordinaire.

John Adams, at the age of 16, lied about his age to join the Marines so he could fight against Imperial Japan in the Pacific. His enlistment date was December 10, 1941, just three days after the attack on Pearl Harbor (see below). As a Marine rifleman, he fought the Japanese from island to island, across the pacific, including at Iwo Jima. We may have good men, but we never had better.

Until his death in 2006, he was a dedicated patriot who still took his oath to defend the Republic deadly serious. May God grant you the courage to do likewise.

Founder Stewart Rhodes

He is a former firearms instructor and former member of Rep. Ron Paul’s DC staff.

Stewart previously wrote the monthly Enemy at the Gates column for S.W.A.T. Magazine

Stewart graduated from Yale Law School in 2004, where his paper “Solving the Puzzle of Enemy Combatant Status” won Yale’s Miller prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights. He assisted teaching U.S. military history at Yale, was a Yale Research Scholar, and is writing a book on the dangers of applying the laws of war to the American people.
