I raised my hand and swore an oath that sent me on a never ending journey
One month after turning 17, in 1976 (you do the math:-), I raised my hand and swore an oath that sent me on a never ending journey. That day I realized despite working in the 1972 political campaign and receiving a thank you from then Gov. Reagan and despite doing well in school I really had no strong grasp of what I had just sworn to uphold, our wonderful Constitution. Over 33 years later I am still studying, sharing, and caring for the best governing guide created by the fallible hand of mankind.
One of the most moving days so far this year was when I witnessed hundreds raise their hands, at a rally at the Utah capital, and repeat after a member of the Oath Keepers an oath to support and defend People’s Law. As soon as anyone takes the oath it should embrace their soul with a sense of calm understanding. When we fully accept our personal responsibility while always living with mutual respect for each other the simple guidelines for our federal government work.
My years in service, both active duty and civilian for a time, helped me see the world using our country’s heritage as a measuring guide. Everywhere I traveled and lived one thing was clear; most people are good hearted and after the same basic things which is security for our family and a better future for our children than we have. In other words life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is a natural part of who we are as humanoids. One day, when we complete the currently on-going restoration of People’s Law, we will once again be the example to follow. Liberty is a natural right while freedom is a privilege we must earn daily and I believe those of us carrying our oaths in our hearts do just that.
To my active duty friends, thank you for your current service in trying times. Remember, many of us served under Ford and Carter so we understand. When frustration rises high consider internally your oath. Be safe!
Please donate and support Oath Keepers mission, every little bit helps!

Welcome, thank you for your service and the eloquent description of our duties to our nation, and the glue that holds it together, the Constitution. As I was reading, I realized the irony of us trying to bring democracy to OTHER countries, when we need to restore it here.

Welcome to Oath Keepers. It is so encouraging to find a steadfast group fellow veterans and law enforcement officers who understand what is needed now and have the courage to stand and be counted when it matters.

It is so very nice to read such a positive and uplifting testimonial…
Thanks, both for speaking out, and for your service.
I did the math; it was very easy as it is an almost identical time frame to mine (altough a different branch of the service).
I’d also like to second that “be safe” to our troops serving now.
With Respect and Honor
