Air Force Defender And A Long History Of Family Service
I was born in the greatest country on earth…a country where the constitution guaranteed that I could be anything I wanted to be, where my rights were bought with the blood of those who came before me. My father served in the National Guard during the 30’s, my Grand Father was in the Navy during the Spanish American War and my Great Grand Father was in the Army in the Civil War. No one told any of them that they “had” to serve…they felt it in their hearts. They knew in their soul that it was the right thing to do. Members of my family have served since the Revolutionary War. Naturally, I felt the need to do the same. It was not just a job, or a way to get money for college, it was a calling that I had felt since I was a child.
The day I took my oath of enlistment was the proudest day of my life. I was now a “Defender”. I spent my time in the Air Force at a time when it was not the “popular” thing to do. Now, I would gladly do it again. “I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same”…for, “I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.”

Welcome aboard! And welcome to our band of brothers and sisters of the oath. Like you, we served out of a sense of duty and love of country, not for a job. We are glad to have you among us.

AMEN Brother Skycop. I remember how proud I was 26 years ago when I took my oath of enlistment and then when I received my SP Shield at Lackland. When I was discharged no one ever told me I was free from my oath of enlistment so I am ready to stand a post again.

Welcome to the only family I have left.
I look forward to the days ahead when I get to meet more of them. It is getting to to be a darn
big family. And soon I won’t be able to go anywhere
with out meeting an OATH KEEPER.
Please help spread the Oath.
