The Oath I Took Is As Important Today As It Was Yesterday
I served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy for a total of 20 years, 9 months, and 18 days and wish I was still serving. I felt strongly about commitment to our founding principals, and our oath we took, which has remained the same today as it was yesterday. I try and abide by the same principals today as I did yesterday. The oath I took is as important today as it was yesterday, and I shall continue to defend the principals which it stands for.

I took the oath in 1973, and unlike many in that time at that age it meant something to me. I was as honored to take the oath as I was to serve my country. After 8 years I decided to leave the service. I was not told at that time that the oath no longer applied, that I was released from it. No one gave me an oath relieving me from the obligation, not that I would have taken it if offered. My comittment to the oath now is also as strong as it was back then, and it still has meaning, every word of it!
