An Oath and The Second
I took the oath in June of 1958 (US Army) and recently joined Oath Keepers without any comment; but would like to do so at this time.
My issue is the Second Amendment: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the Right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”.
Without the second amendment the constitution is mute.
Our founding fathers left no debatable language in the constitution. They were insightful and concise individuals that said what they meant without weaseling.
There can be no argument about the word “Right”. A right is permanent and basic, it is not to be confused with a privilege, and it can never legally be taken away.
In every case, where the word “People” has been used in our constitution, the courts have ruled that it refers to the individual citizen and never to any select group.
The rest of the second amendment is equally crystal clear and self-explanatory.
The duplicity of bureaucratic lawyers and politicians, in their attempt to tear down the second amendment, never ceases to amaze me. Any of their drivel, when compared to simple logic, is not worth discussion. Period.
I am fed up with the oligarchy in control of our republic. Any puppet, of these sinister and ruthless men, whether at a local, state or national level, that has ever cast a single vote against the intent of the constitution needs to be removed from office. Yesterday; if it were possible.
I am a citizen; not a subject.
I consider it a privilege to stand with like-minded men; those of us with the heart to be truly free.

I agree 100%!! What part of “shall NOT be infringed” do they not understand?

I so agree with you, brother. Whenever politicians argue against the Second, their efforts are labored and they need to justify their reasoning for wanting to water it down. Just read it, I say, and look to the writings of the founding fathers, all of which allude to self defense as am inalienable God given right.

Welcome, Ridge and thanks for your service!
Your reading of the 2nd Amendment is the same as mine. Show me a ‘reasonable gun control law’, and I’ll show you an unconstitutional infringement.
Murder and armed robbery are already illegal, and don’t infringe upon the Rights of the People. Gun control is only about control of those who bother to obey the law, and is a favorite tactic for tyrants throughout history.
Understanding the Constitution is a necessary prerequisite for supporting and defending it. How can you support and defend a thing, if you don’t know what that thing is?

I stand with you and all the others who have re-affirmed their oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States. Our founding fathers were genius in creating a constitution that has separation of powers, and also having officers swear allegience to the constitution and NOT THE PRESIDENT.

I completely agree. Very well put brother!
