Mission Creep and the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Misguided Focus

In case you missed the story, last November 4th a polling precinct in Philadelphia, PA was patrolled by an organization called the New Black Panther Party, a Marxist group that in 2000, was listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a racial hate group. Video footage shot in 2008, show Black Panther precinct workers intimidating white voters. This was covered by the news organizations, and resulted in charges being filed by the Bush Department of Justice, whose job it is to defend and protect the voting rights of all Americans.
What should have been an open and shut case has become something more troubling, after the Eric Holder-led Justice Department dropped charges against the Black Panthers, who supported President Obama. Currently, this decision to drop the charges, is being challenged by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, (an organization with which I am affiliated).
Now this is the part where things really get interesting.
The SPLC has been mum on the issue, despite the fact that in 2000, it included the New Black Panther Party among its annual list of hate groups. In fact, what is most shocking is that the SPLC has spent far more resources hounding conservative organizations, such as the Center for Immigration Studies, and prominent citizens like CNN’s award-winning anchor Lou Dobbs, than it has protecting the civil rights of American voters, which includes white people as well as black. The unrelenting attacks on Mr. Dobbs and others are shameless. The once venerable organization wages war against conservative individuals, principles, and organizations. How unfortunate for America. How unfortunate for the organization’s founders.
There is a name for what has happened. It is called “mission creep.” Mission creep occurs when an organization strays beyond its original purpose and engages in actions antithetical to its goals. Rather than monitoring hate groups, the Southern Poverty Law Center has become one.
Carol M. Swain is a Professor of Political Science and Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University. Professor Swain’s work on representation and race relations has earned her national and international accolades. Her highly acclaimed book, Black Faces, Black Interests: The Representation of African Americans in Congress (1993, 1995 Harvard University Press; reprinted in 2006 by University Press of America) was named one of the seven outstanding academic books of 1994 by Library Choice Journal, received the 1994 Woodrow Wilson prize for the best book published in the U.S. on government, politics or international affairs, the Hardeman Prize for best scholarly work on Congress during 1994-1995, and was the co-winner of the Key Award for the best book published on southern politics.

I was recently reminded by a friend that “To be despised by the despicable is an Honor of sorts.” or words towards that meaning.
My, unrequested I admit, opinion is to let them ramble on and only respond with calm and clear responses of our Mission Statement and our What We are Not List.

This “slam” is, backhanded granted, advertisement that we could not have afforded nor would we have been “allowed” If we had asked.
They will ask their “followers” to contact their Peace Officers and law makers to “check up” on us NEVER REALIZING that those Peace Officers and law makers all swore to the same oath that we are Keeping. I especially like that part.

Those who work for Obamarx (many of whom worked for BJ Clinton) depend on conservatives, Christians and other real Americans to turn the other cheek, act civilized, and turn their backs on the corrupt. THEN the corrupt will strike again. We must be vigilant.
The left today is not logical or rational, it is simply anti-American. They relish their power to abuse, as surely as did The Dick Cheney and so many before him. We must speak out.
This is not about Party Politics, it is about whether or not we will have the united States anymore–an America that is free enough to help ALL towards liberty. We must judge politicians (& judges!) by their actions, not their empty promises. We must find honest statesmen who will eliminate the corrupt APPOINTED bureaucrats, and FORGET Commie CZARS and unelected committees.
The elitist “leaders” who voted themselves & Wall Street pals the treasury sold America out long ago. Finally, they decided to cut and run, filling their pockets on the way out. But major rats have not left the ship, in that they only got power!! They’re in the walls.
While all these little medias help, they can’t reach the masses that the left-owned major media do. Too many people still rely on the major media for the “news.” If we lose too many jobs and go on bread lines (& Chinese vitamins) we can’t donate to the little medias anymore. There may not be much time.
But we could still drill and mine for trade. Then we could start to rebuild factory infrastructure. It would take will of the people to overcome obstacles by the elitist “leaders.” Will we!
Power is a drug, and the Founders did what they could to minimize the damage a politician with the “drug” called political power could do. That drug is not party specific. The comments above calling us to stay the course are absolutely correct. Remember when there were more FBI informants in the KKK than actual members? That organization and others like them had things to hide, because they were doing things that were contrary to the law of the land. As long as we stay true to our oath and purpose, we can only hope to be full of FBI, BATF, Homeland Security or any other “informers.” They all swore the oath, too. We should want especially to grow in those organizations.
The non-partisanship of Oathkeepers contributes to our credibility. We can’t allow “mission-creep” to happen occur in this organization. Keep our oath. Period.

I’m appauled to say the least as to what’s happening in this country. I thought back in 1971 when we first came from Cuba( escaping communism) that any of this was going to happen here. I will stick up for this country in the time of need. I love the United States of America, she has a special place in my heart and she’s always in my prayers and I ask our Lord and savior Jesus Christ to save us from the evil and corrupted individuals running it. I would think that sincerely embracing the full meaning of the oath- including issues that are traditionally eschewed by conservatives such as refusing to enforce unconstitutional federal anti-drug laws- would go a long way toward dispelling SPLC claims. Not only is the vast majority, perhaps all, of the federal drug was unconstitutional, but it also is a much larger and more immediate harm to individual rights today than anything on the 10 orders list. And beyond that it, it is disproportionately used to harm minorities.
That should say “of the federal drug war unconstitutional” in the comment above.

Oath keepers sounds like another piece of the puzzle creating a national militia to keep government in check, and responsive to the citizentry. I am all for it.
You know that it is a small percentage right now and hopefully growing that will be on the side of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. It will be like our founding fathers opposing the British all over again! The 2nd Revolutionary War is about to begin. All it will take is a false flag event or financial colapse or something else that will force martial law upon us. When it happens, it will be the bloodiest War to ever be fought on this Earth. The American Patriot will not give up til dead and the brain dead globalist army will fight like a dumb animal til dead. Unfortuantely, most of those brain dead globalist soldiers will be former US citizens. The day they shoot at their first Patriot defending the US Constitution makes them enemy of the United States Of America. As soon as the first soldier shoots at a Patriot defending the US Constitution, Every officer and government official supporting that shot is enemy of the United States of America. They may have already shot that first shot or supported that first shot and they may already be guilty of treason. When that war starts, then it will be official, the now US Government will no longer be the US Government. They will be the Globalist Government and the real US Government will be those defending the US Constitution. It will not only be a Revolutionary War but also a Civil War all in one. Every US Citizen right now needs to make a decision. Are you a US Citizen or a Global Citizen of the United Nations? You need to pick a side, for there will be no in between.
