Rand Cardwell, Tennessee Oath Keeper

I recently had the honor of representing the Oath Keepers at the TEA Party in Asheville, NC on July 4th. The crowd was estimated at around 1,000.

Here are a couple of videos of the Asheville rally. The first one is an edited version of the 10 Orders. The second one is of the actual Oath ceremony, in which an estimated 750 took part. Mr. Bob Murphy, veteran and retired NYPD officer gave the oath to the crowd.

I was approached by a man after my speech as I stood at the “Oath Keeper” booth. He introduced himself as Jeff Dreibus, a writer and regular contributor to a local newspaper. Jeff went on to praise the work of the Oath Keepers and stated that he had written a piece on the Oath Keepers a couple of months ago. He wished he had the opportunity to have spoken with me prior to that article because the information on our organization was taken from the Internet. Another attendee was standing near by and was listening to our exchange. He came over and handed me a copy of the article that Jeff wrote and stated that he had heard that the Oath Keepers were going to be at the event. He wanted us to have the article to understand the impact our organization is having on people across the nation. Below is Jeff’s article, which was written shortly after Lexington Green in April.

THE OATH KEEPERS: LATTER-DAY PATRIOTS

Bet you didn’t know that Sunday, April 19 was Patriots’ Day – in fact, I’ll bet you’ve never heard of it. It is held each year in Lexington, Massachusetts to honor the American Patriots who stood against British troops the Battles of Lexington and Concord . . . but no Federal holiday is designated to honor it. Well, of course not – today those Revolutionary patriots would be labeled “terrorists”!

On hand to help celebrate this civic holiday at a rally in Lexington was a group I will also bet you have never heard of: the Oath Keepers. This is a growing organization of American law enforcement and military personnel who follow their sworn oaths to protect and uphold our Constitution. Now, that last sentence may seem a bit dichotomous to regular readers as all of our recent Presidents have issued orders which might be considered, to put it diplomatically, unconstitutional. Not to worry; the Oath Keepers are miles ahead of us on this matter.

Part of their oath is composed of ten orders which they will not follow, regardless of who issues them. They pledge NOT to obey orders to commit the following acts against their fellow U.S. citizens: disarm us; conduct warrantless searches against us; detain us as “unlawful enemy combatants” and subject us to military tribunal; impose martial law or “a state of emergency” against any state; invade and subjugate any state which declares its sovereignty; blockade American cities, thus turning them into concentration camps; force us into detention camps under any pretext; assist foreign troops on U.S soil to take action against us to “keep the peace” or “maintain control”; confiscate our property including essentials such as food; or infringe upon our rights to free speech, to peaceably assemble and to petition our government for redress of grievances.

Educated readers will recognize the above as essentially a reaffirmation of the government’s limitations of power as proscribed in our Constitution. I must admit that knowing of such an organization as the Oath Keepers allows me to rest a lot easier at night. There could come a day, and I fear that it may be soon, when such committed men and women become the only barriers which exist between the American people and the imposition of tyranny. Some might contend that they already are.

Thank you for helping to secure our freedoms, Oath Keepers.

Thank you Randy, I belong to some tea party and patriot groups we work hard every day with phone calls, e-mails and faxes to the media and to our government to put a stop to what they’re doing. But it is oath keepers that makes me the most proud and feel the most secure. So far I have sent the Sheriff Mack book to our local sheriff I’ve had a meeting with a local police department and scheduling more with neighboring towns as well is handed out fliers to every cop or military personnel i see and I will not be intimidated and I will not quit.
